JHCO took an active part in the relief effort for the horrific Bengali floods that occurred in 1991. Royal Highness Prince Hassan, the Head of the Trustees Council at JHCO, inaugurated a fundraising campaign for the Bengali flood victims with a special contribution.
JHCO sent more than 36 tons of medical supplies, food and other relief items such as blankets and water purification devices thanks to coordination with Royal Jordanian Airlines. In total, these relief items amounted to more than $150,000 in aid sent.
On November 30th, 2007, in compliance with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, we sent a large amount of humanitarian aid to help those Bangladeshi affected by the devastated hurricane that year.
Sending these items by air freight directly to Dhaka allowed for a rapid delivery and alleviation of the suffering of the Bangladeshi people.
The Jordanian government, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, took an active part in coordinating and sending this urgent aid to Bangladesh. The timely response was heralded by Bangladesh as an important milestone in reaffirming the goodwill and relations between our two countries.
JHCO would like to acknowledge the active participation of the Crisis Management Centre of the Jordanian Armed Forces, who played invaluable role in providing this aid.
